Printing Your Images

I'm gonna save this one. Let me flatten this and we're going to send it to print. I have a USB here. It goes to the there it is, and Save As. We can save it in the USB. Uh, where is it? There we go, saved. Okay, did you get a feel of what I'm doing? You should experiment this with the actions and find out it does a lot more find out what it does. I need a whole day to do more effects, more finishing but you get an idea how I'm working on the picture. Slow, slow and then apply an effect to it. This time, I applied the CPR toning tweak. if we go back in history maybe, let's do something else. Let's... okay, let's get rid of the CPR and we want to do a different look. So, let's go to the action. Let's do a pastel. The pastel is that boring colors that. Hold on, let's flatten it first. When you apply an action filter flatten the picture all the time. So let's go back to choose History. So, Yervant, that film drive just went into the other studio, right? To be printed. To be printed. ...

So, they're actually starting to print it right now. So, we get to check in on that a little bit later. I want to let everybody at home know. Go back. Okay there. Let me take this out first. Let me flatten the image because, don't forget, action applies when I'm doing it in an album. So, let's apply the classic one, the Yervant classic. Oh, there was a selection, sorry. This select, the select, Yervant classic. There it is. It gives me quite a different look to the picture. You see, this classic look will keep the blacks very flat so there's a lot of details in everything. So, before and after. It gives me quite a nice look to the picture. Okay. Now, we've retouch everything, let's imagine. But, like I said, I was only demonstrating here how I work on the picture. You bring out details here, details there, finish it but don't apply filter until you reach album stage because that's when you're gonna decide if it's got it to be black and white it's gonna be soft, it's gonna be colorful and everything that's another stage, okay? I want each page to match to each other. I don't want colors to be all over the place. Even if you do it perfect, but it's not gonna match once it's on the layout. Here, okay, this is the three softwares I use to design album. Up to just recently, this was my software. It's a great software, it works very nicely but I haven't upgraded it, I haven't moved it to the next stage because I'm busy with photographing and basically I'm not gonna follow it up anymore. I'm going to show you how I designed the album pages. Okay, my albums are graphic studio. This is where we start to the serious stuff. I love graphic studio, I'm using graphic studio for 15 years for many years now. The quality, the class of it, is unmatchable. Every album I've built, I individualized it. That's another event when the couple decide they love the book, we go into my studio, we have sample we have the sample boxes, okay, we start to create the album. What color letter? What color cover, books, everything? My favorite book. I'm just gonna cut in, I want you to catch the end of the picture that's printing right now. Oh, okay. That's it, so do you want to run and check on that real fast? Let me bring the print. How are we going? Okay, that's nice. You see how quick the Canon printer is? It's coming up. I have the bigger one than this, ha-ha. And I have the smaller one also. So, it's an amazing printer. Talk to Canon, this is one of the best ever printer. You see it has 12 inks into it. It just gives me an amazing quality print. I'm using reinforced paper. I usually use the art inferred paper. So, I'm gonna talk about it what I use there but, let's see. It's coming out. Is it stuck? Oh, we can take it out. Okay, there it is. Guys, that's the print I just finished. Let's take it inside. He'll bring it in. Oo-hoo. There's the print we just did. That's awesome. (audience claps) You see that look better than what you saw on the screen, didn't you? Yeah. Okay. It's beautiful. And mind you when you profile your paper in printer to the perfection it will be so amazing. Here we have some of the last shoot we did. You see that had one of the Yervant effects on it. The soft effects. Hold it real still up for the camera. Up for camera. (laughs) So, that's one. This was the black and white. This is the exciting part, this is what I love. Up to there, it was fantasy, now is reality. It's in my hands. (audience laughs) This is it, this is what works for me. I sell pictures, this is what I give you. Not whatever it was up on the computer. You saw not good quality on the screen. That screen was better, imagine the customer's screen. They don't have good computers or high qualities. What they're gonna see there? So, this is it, this one we'll hang on the wall and they love it. And my clients see this in my studio and like I said, if I have an interview with her to come and see, place her order I print one framed, and say, "Oh, surprise!" Your picture is already framed. "Oh, Yervant, I have a wall for this. "Can I take it home?" Yeah, if you pay me, you can take it home. (audience laughs) So, I mean that it's, you go to store you see something you like, you want to buy but this is the best part. This is your picture in the store. It's not a clone, it's nothing, this is you on the wall. And she will say, "I never saw this picture." Oh yeah, let me show you, this was the proof. "Oh." That's all the reaction, and that's what we sell. We sell pictures. I've been doing this for, sorry, I turned my back. I've been doing this for many years and I will never stop doing this. I sell pictures. This paper here is paper-based. So, it's very archival, up to 200 years. What a good selling point. It's a bit more expensive, but it's archival. 200 years. It's gonna outlive you guys. Your grandchildren are gonna enjoy it. So, that's the idea. It's so important, print, album, that's what it is all about. Don't cut costs. You see, I show you an example the other day. $10,000 more you spend for an album on the 30 weddings that $10,000 is gonna make you $ more as an example. Calculate, you make your accounts. It's going to bring you more money because when you give a USB. When you give a USB, you're giving them only a little thing. Although, I present quite a nice USB. This is made by graphic studio. I don't know if they're gonna introduce I don't know if they're gonna introduce this. I'm not sure this is a prototype of the USBs made overseas. It's 32 gig. USB three. It cost me not much. In a beautiful box. I sell these, $1,000. After the album, this is an extra this is my kid's education for the future. USB cost what? If I give you this, what's the value of it? You are a female, which one you want? You have only one choice. This or this? The picture, although you think you can do this but you're not gonna do it the Yervant way. So, this is so important, guys. So, yes, good presentation. Everything must be good, everything must be quality. Good presentation, they pay $1,000. It needs to come in a nice box. It needs to have the signature, but this one they don't see until I've sold them that.

I am SO grateful to CreativeLive as well as Yervant for taking the time to put on this class. So many times while sitting in this class I thought to myself "what have I been thinking?!" I have so much to learn! I loved hearing about Yervant's process for creating images, but what inspired me even more was his advice on how to view, and treat yourself as a professional. I completely agree when he said photographers are creative but we are "terrible business people." But I aim to change this in my business from this point forward, thanks to this class! Yervant's advice on how to value, protect, and sell your art is priceless. I have always valued printing and creating products clients can hold, but I don't think I understood the real emotional value in it until this class. When he pulls those images we just watched him create for the last two days, off of that printer, and they are there before our eyes, I had an emotional reaction to it. I want my clients to experience the same, so I must value it and create opportunities to educate my clients. Thanks for the kick in the pants that we all needed Yervant! And I hope this will not be the last time I get to experience your education in my life. I said this many times to other students during the class, but I will say it again here, I want to carry a mini Yervant with me every where I go! Thank you Creative Live and thank you Yervant!

Yervant’s ardent love for wedding photography and capturing his brides in their best light is unquestionable. His love for this photography community and his regard for our respect in the world hierarchy is without reservation. Yervant’s willingness to share his knowledge and skill for all these things to come together is beyond generous. These are some of the things that help Yervant to effortlessly stand out as a photography master and this is exactly what this class is about… plain and simple.
