Paper for Printing
Okay, quickly some people ask the paper. I use Ilford paper. It's amazing quality. Ilford traditionally is the master of black and white photograph in the old days. Now they've come up with amazing papers and they have many varieties. This is my favorite. I use the Ilford color Prestige Smooth Pearl. This is like traditional photographic paper plastic paste. It's quite nice for little prints. So I buy five by seven box or eight by 10 box to use on my 100 printer. So we don't have to cut it. It's five by seven, print straight away and it's fine. Ilford Galerie Prestige, this is the paper you saw there, it's fiber-based like the really old photographic paper, 200 years archival. Ilford Galerie Prestige Texture, I love this paper. It's so soft, so beautiful. Beautiful for portraits, beautiful for big pictures. It looks timeless, it's like a painting. And also, Ilford Galerie Prestige Metallic Gloss. This gives a bit of metallic look to the print. If the customer wants more colorful printi...
ng we use this. And of course the art canvas, that's very popular as well. This canvas is, we do it for our displays. They don't fade easily even if the harsh light in the window. So we use those for that. So it's amazing quality paper. As far as printing, we did the print. The way I do it, I have the two printers. I was not convinced to spend five, 600 dollars on the software, and I avoided this for 10 years. Then, eventually, so many people tried to push it on me, I said, Okay, I'll buy it. And I can't believe why I didn't buy it 10 years ago. This software resizes my, so basically, when I finish a picture I keep it the actual size, I don't resize it. I finish it. And the same picture I can have five by seven I resize in this software. I resize five by seven, eight by and everything, and the software will resize it for me to the highest resolution. It's color profile, so all the color profiles in there. It will save me paper so I can lay out the way I want. So all I have to do is drop in there and that keeps on printing on the roll. So it saves me so much money, but the quality of the printing also is amazing. The software, such well-made software. It's called Mirage. It's expensive, you need dongle, so that's plug in the USB. If you don't have that it doesn't work, but good investment often. You know even Danny's managing to print now with this software. So she drops it in, it can explore the software. So you can either send it to the big one or the small one. It's fine.

I am SO grateful to CreativeLive as well as Yervant for taking the time to put on this class. So many times while sitting in this class I thought to myself "what have I been thinking?!" I have so much to learn! I loved hearing about Yervant's process for creating images, but what inspired me even more was his advice on how to view, and treat yourself as a professional. I completely agree when he said photographers are creative but we are "terrible business people." But I aim to change this in my business from this point forward, thanks to this class! Yervant's advice on how to value, protect, and sell your art is priceless. I have always valued printing and creating products clients can hold, but I don't think I understood the real emotional value in it until this class. When he pulls those images we just watched him create for the last two days, off of that printer, and they are there before our eyes, I had an emotional reaction to it. I want my clients to experience the same, so I must value it and create opportunities to educate my clients. Thanks for the kick in the pants that we all needed Yervant! And I hope this will not be the last time I get to experience your education in my life. I said this many times to other students during the class, but I will say it again here, I want to carry a mini Yervant with me every where I go! Thank you Creative Live and thank you Yervant!

Yervant’s ardent love for wedding photography and capturing his brides in their best light is unquestionable. His love for this photography community and his regard for our respect in the world hierarchy is without reservation. Yervant’s willingness to share his knowledge and skill for all these things to come together is beyond generous. These are some of the things that help Yervant to effortlessly stand out as a photography master and this is exactly what this class is about… plain and simple.
