Retouch Images in Lightroom®
From Lightroom, everything goes to into the edited hard drive. We have a separate album hard drive. Where and whenever we design an album it goes on this hard drive. I create a folder of the client in there and all their selection. I don't need to color correct anything because it's done. All their selection automatically gets loaded. 300 resolution so it's suitable for printer, 16 bytes, TIFF format, Adobe RGB, and that's it. Move it all there, it goes into a folder inside their folder so I have all the TIFF files there and now they're ready to be retouched. The end of Lightroom is there. We don't do much more than this in Lightroom. Sometime, if I have an area which is a bit overexposed or underexposed, I will make more corrections so I get the best out of the Lightroom file. Usually, when we edit into, let me show you this. Let's pick up a picture here. Let's assume it's this one here. No, I don't like that. Okay, something like this. Basically what I will do here, go to develop, al...
ready I've set up a setting on it. Especially when we have the white dress of the bride I will do the highlights a bit darker, I go all the way to minus 100 percent. This will bring the details inside the whites. I don't want to lose details in the whites. The next one I do the shadows. I pump up the shadows a little bit so we see nice details into the blacks. I don't want to lose this. Add a bit of contrast. not too much because the file is already okay. Colors are okay, maybe just a bit more magenta. Tint, more into the warm. A bit of sharpening. I will do just a bit noise reduction, about seven there. Basically, if there's less vignetting I will adjust it but usually I don't do to much of that. There's one more here. I will do the clarity. You see the clarity automatically is done because I select that punch so that gave me nice punch. Clarity and vibrance. Vibrance, sometime it can be too colorful. Reduce it but this did a good job, punch works quite nicely. There's a lot of details there. There's the whites have plenty of detail. Each picture that's going to go in album, I go through that one by one like this to make sure that I've got details in the whites. If she has a beautiful white dress, she's got beautiful lace on it or whatever you don't want to lose the details. By changing the highlights you will keep all those details. If the suit is black, I don't want to lose details off the black. The shadows, even in the hair, anything you see, when I change that you will start seeing details in the hair. Everything has quite nice details, just basic. Once I'm done, for example, let's assume the right side I need to darken it a little bit, I will do that in Lightroom at this stage. I can do more in Photoshop but in Lightroom I will select the gradient, I will cross it on there. Exposure, just darken it around there. I might do this at some pictures, if there's a sky that I want details in the sky and things like that. Basically, that's it, simple. The rest, I will finish it in Photoshop. That's where we're gonna go next.

I am SO grateful to CreativeLive as well as Yervant for taking the time to put on this class. So many times while sitting in this class I thought to myself "what have I been thinking?!" I have so much to learn! I loved hearing about Yervant's process for creating images, but what inspired me even more was his advice on how to view, and treat yourself as a professional. I completely agree when he said photographers are creative but we are "terrible business people." But I aim to change this in my business from this point forward, thanks to this class! Yervant's advice on how to value, protect, and sell your art is priceless. I have always valued printing and creating products clients can hold, but I don't think I understood the real emotional value in it until this class. When he pulls those images we just watched him create for the last two days, off of that printer, and they are there before our eyes, I had an emotional reaction to it. I want my clients to experience the same, so I must value it and create opportunities to educate my clients. Thanks for the kick in the pants that we all needed Yervant! And I hope this will not be the last time I get to experience your education in my life. I said this many times to other students during the class, but I will say it again here, I want to carry a mini Yervant with me every where I go! Thank you Creative Live and thank you Yervant!
