Photoshop® Workflow
So when you get the action, all you have to do is start your Photoshop, double click on it, and it will be loaded in the action. If you want to put it on top, it doesn't matter where it is. Once you've loaded, change it to bottom mode. And they're all color coordinated. They're in the right colors. So the yellow ones are more softening and HDR effects, the orange ones are to give texture, like filter on it, like the match look and things like that. The blue ones are black and whites. And the red ones are to change the picture into no noise or noise or add film grain sharpen. And the green ones are standard Photoshop menus, which made them into action, so it's handy, it's always in your hand. And the gray one is step backwards, which means if you've done a mistake, you click on that, you go back to the past stage. Okay, let's go into here and create live. I've moved some files there. The album, I've called it album. Let's open the first one and see what we're gonna do with it. Let me hi...
de the background. This is all okay. It's good as it is. You don't need to do too much to it. But Yervant doesn't stop there, we need to make it even perfect. The first thing we see, even if she's a model, she's got some skin textures and things sweat or things like that, that we need to clean. You know, I will never give a girl a picture like this. After she spent so much money on make-up and everything, and usually funny thing, the make-up artist thinks they've done a great make-up, they don't know that there was Yervant behind the picture. The first thing I have to look at is any distractions. Although I framed it quite well, maybe I will remove this part here. So I will select the spot healing brush tool. I love this tool. It's quite nice. A small, bigger than the section, just clean up like that, a couple of times, it will remove that thing easily out of the picture. I will keep this one, sometimes I might move it but it's not too much distraction so I'll keep it away. What I'm gonna do now, I'm gonna show you my Yervant frequency layer. This is like frequency separation a la Yervant, my way. So it's slightly different then what there is out there, because I'm using Imagenomic in here. Imagenomic is gonna help me make that picture even much nicer, so I don't have to go in details. So what I'm gonna do is create three layers. Let's call it middle and top. Let's hide the top layer. Let's go into the middle and let's go into filters, Imagenomic, portraiture. Now the plug in comes for Imagenomic. They have presets. I love the presets. You can do minor settings if you want, but I love their presets. What I'm gonna do is, I'm gonna select the high one. The strong one. So that cleans up. Look how beautifully it cleaned everything. But it's high, don't worry, it's a layer. So before I do that, I forgot to do something. Sorry, let's cancel that. Before you do Imagenomic, make another layer of middle layer so I can bring it down after. Go back to Filter, Imagenomic, portraiture and let's click the strong. So this is what happened. Actually the new one creates a new layer, so you don't need to make a new layer. It automatically creates a new layer. So let's delete that and try it again. So, middle layer, forget what I did before this. Let's do it again. Imagenomic, portraiture. Then click OK. I think the strong was too strong, let's go into middle, click OK. That's much nicer. You see, it just did a very nice clean. But it's a bit too soft. Now what I'm gonna do is, I'm gonna go to the top layer and go into Image, Apply Image. Apply Image, I'm gonna do select the middle copy and the blending select the subject. This is the standard setting, scale is two. Offset is 128 for frequency separation so I keep the same setting, click OK. Now you go to the Normal, the pop up menu, and change this to linear light. So now the top layer brings the texture back. You go to the opacity and start reducing to amount you want. That's quite nice, I still want to keep some of texture there, but by selecting the top layer, you want to keep the textures, the lines and everything there, but reduce. So if we go to Original, Before and After. So this is the Original and After. Here we go. If I want to remove some of the pimples there, sorry sweetheart, just go with the the spot healing brush and just remove them, just lightly remove them. And that's it. So, let's go back again. Before and After, quite a nice clean and all the textures are there, perfect. All you have to do is delete these layers and look what's gonna happen. Let's go into my actions. Click on there, it will do it, and this way it's much quicker also, you don't have to worry what to do. Now, if you change the opacity, you can achieve exactly what I did a minute ago and that's the picture. Then work on a couple of small marks there, and done. So if I hide those two layers, original and after. If you want to save more time, there's the Yervant Frequency flat one. It flattens for you and it does the final thing for you. So let's go to the Yervant Frequency, just click on it. This is gonna give you flat files and it's ready to be, there it is. It always has a layer also. So if you want to see before and after, you see how nice it is and then just go and retouch those areas, you're done. Now I've done the frequency separation, let's go around the picture and see what else we can do. So, before and after.

I am SO grateful to CreativeLive as well as Yervant for taking the time to put on this class. So many times while sitting in this class I thought to myself "what have I been thinking?!" I have so much to learn! I loved hearing about Yervant's process for creating images, but what inspired me even more was his advice on how to view, and treat yourself as a professional. I completely agree when he said photographers are creative but we are "terrible business people." But I aim to change this in my business from this point forward, thanks to this class! Yervant's advice on how to value, protect, and sell your art is priceless. I have always valued printing and creating products clients can hold, but I don't think I understood the real emotional value in it until this class. When he pulls those images we just watched him create for the last two days, off of that printer, and they are there before our eyes, I had an emotional reaction to it. I want my clients to experience the same, so I must value it and create opportunities to educate my clients. Thanks for the kick in the pants that we all needed Yervant! And I hope this will not be the last time I get to experience your education in my life. I said this many times to other students during the class, but I will say it again here, I want to carry a mini Yervant with me every where I go! Thank you Creative Live and thank you Yervant!
