Which Custom Audiences Create the Best Lookalike Audiences
So one mistake we've seen time and time again when auditing accounts is folks using the wrong look like audience. The best look like audiences will be built from your bottom of funnel Custom audiences, namely these three audiences, Number one purchasers to email lists and three website visitors Now to build a high quality look like audience. You're going to want to custom audience of at least 200 people. The minimum size to create a look like from is 100 in general. The larger the seed audience or the more data, the more pure your lookalike audience will be. So we recommend using audiences with at least 200 people in them as your seeds. If your clients don't have a list of purchasers Or don't have 200 website visitors, then you can start to go more top of funnel and target people who have watched your videos who have engaged with your page or who are following your page online. But in general you're gonna want to stay away from creating a look alike from these top of funnel audiences.
Let's walk through the math to show you exactly why. So let's pretend That we're running a video ad and it's just totally crushing it right? It has a reach of 1000 people and a quickly rate of 10%. Amazing. That means we got 100 clicks. Now let's even go further and pretend those clicks convert at a 10% rate. So we get 10 conversions As a marketer. I look at this and say, you know, Wow, this video ad is crushing it 10% click through rate, 10% conversion rate. I'm super happy with that. This might cause some people to then suggest building a look like audience of these video views. But here's why you shouldn't do it. Even with those amazing metrics that add still only got 10 conversions out of 1000 people reached. So if I create a look alike audience from those views, I've now asked Facebook to create a cloned audience of 990 people who didn't buy my product, An audience that had a 99% fail rate in getting me purchases. Long story short focus on your bottom of funnel audiences to make lookalikes from. You want to be feeding facebook the proper signal for the customer you're really looking for. So video views are great and necessary. But I'm confident your clients are a lot more concerned about purchases and leads so make sure those are the signals that you're feeding facebook. Are you starting to feel better about look like audiences now? Maybe even a little excited to go make some clones of your best purchasers or lists. We have a few more areas we still want to cover with you before we move to implementation. So let's jump into the next lesson where we're gonna be discussing the best strategies for look like percentages
