Project 1: Introduction
Now we're gonna get to the good stuff. As you guys know, I've already said how much I love digital scrapbooking. So this is where we get to have a lot of fun. All of those pieces that we digitized and new stuff coming into the frame. We get to make our real mixed media pages. I like to call this part of the project that we're creating an entry point to mixed-media style type of pages. Mixed-media as you saw from the examples, can be all over the spectrum. There's a lot of different kinds of pages that you can create, but the main important thing is the technique that you're using. The techniques that you use don't often change the process, the steps that you're using. It doesn't matter if you're adding a lot of paint on your pages to make the mixed-media. It doesn't matter if you're making or putting a little bit of paint. The process of how we're stamping brushes, the process of using blend modes, the process of adding adjustment layers to influence things, making substrate background...
layers. All of those things don't change just because we have more layers. The process is still the same, you just have more steps to use, but the process is different, is not gonna be different. So with this layout that we're gonna create for project one, which is my kitty cat layer, kitty cat, the cat, who thinks she's a tiger. That's the whole point. We're gonna make this layout from scratch and if you want to make it from scratch with me, then you're gonna need some supplies. And I've provided those supplies to you. I've also supplied the work, the working files at least for the tiger and... I believe that's the one we're gonna blend, so we should be good. And if you aren't able to make the layout, or you run into questions, or you just say, "I just don't understand what's going on with "a particular layer." You also have the layered working file to work with as well, to see exactly what I'm gonna do. Now that said, I'm not gonna make this exact layout, okay? Whenever you work with mixed-media and paints and brushes and all that stuff, it's impossible to make it exactly the same way that you did because we're using a lot of different brush strokes, we're using different tips. I'm gonna come as close as I can possibly can to making this, but I just am never gonna go, "Okay, it was left brush, right bracket, "one to number nine." Who knows. It's just never gonna work that way. But it's gonna be as close as we can get to making it. I'm also going to be discussing... Really graphic design techniques about color and placing things in certain positions, and why, you know, this is over here versus... I've have it all spread out. I am a white, empty space, scrapbooker. There's usually somewhere on my layout where you don't see something 'cause I like my layouts to breathe. I don't like a lot of stuff on my layout. However, however... It doesn't matter, okay? So if you find, at home guys, that you want to make a layout that has a bunch of stuff up there, and you want to fill your canvas with all types of paint and layers, just do it and be okay with it. And when you do it, after you do it, please put it in our, in our gallery so we can see what you make. I totally want to see what you guys create using this stuff, and see what kind of mixed-media that you're creating. Sounds good?

This class is FABULOUS! Tiffany is very knowledgeable and was extremely well prepared. (I watched the entire class from 9 to 4 today, August 18, 2016.) She speaks clearly and is easy to understand. She does move quickly through the material, so I would recommend buying the class so you have unlimited access to the videos. The bonus materials are great! This class is well worth the money. However, the class is probably for those with at least intermediate skill in Photoshop or Photoshop Elements. Beginners would probably find it overwhelming. I will add that the class is well suited to anyone interested in digital art as well as those who do digital scrapbooking.

love love love this class...Tiffany is an awesome teacher. She has really organized this class to provide maximum value to the audience. Being a paper crafter and digital scrapbooker, the instructions/ideas Tiffany has shared will definitely help me to take my work to the next level.

What a fun class! I've been doing digital design for over four years but learned so much today! Tiffany Tillman-Emanuel is a very competent instructor, was very encouraging, and stressed that there is more than one way to do something in Photoshop and the importance of discovering our own style...highly recommend purchasing this course along with her class on compositing for digital scrapbookers...I got a great deal on both. BTW, I am not a scrapbooker but create and sell digitally painted background and art journal papers, so there's something for everyone in this class!
