Eraser and Gradient Tools
All right, let's further work our way down our tools panel here. We were just at the history brush below that we have the eraser tool, and it just erases things. The one thing you should know about when you use the eraser tool is if you're ever working on a layer that's called background or you're working on a layer mask, then the eraser tool not truly erase. And that's because a background layer cannot have any transparent areas. And a layer mask is always full of shades of grey, so erasing doesn't make sense. But in that case, any time you work on the background layer or a layer mask, what the eraser tool will do is it will just paint with your background color. And what that means is, if you ever worked with layer masks, feel free to use the paint brush tool to, um, paint with white and then switch to the eraser tool and your background color, usually black. At that time in, it would paint with black, so that's our racer tool. Below that, we have the Grady int tool with it. You can ...
click and drag on your picture, and it's going to make a smooth transition with default settings. It will be between your foreground and background colors, but you're welcome to change those settings up here at the top. If you click here, you can choose from preset colors. The one in the upper left would be your foreground and background colors. And then over here you can choose what type of Grady in you would like. Do you want it to go in a straight line? You want it to radiate out from the middle of a circle and so on. A lot of people ask me how I create a color wheel, which is something that I often show in my seminars, and I'll just briefly show him, Make one with this tool. I'm going to go in here. And one of the pre cess if I just clicked on that little arrow is this one, which looks like a rainbow of color. But notice that the color at the beginning in the color at the ends are identical, and therefore, if you did something to make it go around a circle, the ends would match. Then, over here, I'm going to use this setting that makes us go around, sweep around a circle similar to the hand on a clock or toe a radar moving around. And then I'm just gonna click in the middle of my file and drag straight up. That's how we make a color wheel. The wheel. It has all the colors in the rainbow in it. And so what I've done is I would went to the Grady Int tool. I chose this preset, and I used this setting. Just make sure when you're done, you set it back to normal. So you're not always making color wheels. If you want that to be contained within a circle, just make a round selection first, and then you'll be clicking in the center of that selection and dragging straight up.

I am an avid reader of photoshop books, and an avid watcher of photoshop tutorials. I have attended (internet) several hundred of presentations. In the course of this endeavor, I have found my own favorite photoshop websites and instructors. Creative Live is probably the bargain out there as well as among the top three internet course sites. I have to say with great enthusiasm that the best Photoshop instructor is Ben Willmore. There are many great ones, but truly, he is the best I have come across, and, as indicated above, I have watched literally 100s of tutorials on Photoshop. I have seen all of Ben's courses, I think, and among them, this one is the best by far, and that is saying a lot, because that makes this course the best course on Photoshop to be found anywhere. I am going back and watching it twice. Not only is it comprehensive, but Ben is so familiar with his subject that he is able to explain it like no other. This is crème de la crème of Photoshop classes. I have been wanting to write this review for some time because I have been so thoroughly impressed with everything about this class!

Highly recommended if you want to take your Photoshop skills to the next level. Ben Willmore is clear, concise, and professional. He also has a good speaking voice that is not distracting but also keeps you engaged. Lastly, I would recommend that as you become more advanced, increasing the speed of the video (one of the options given on the menu)...especially if you've gone through the course once before and maybe want to watch it again. The double speed is very efficient as you become more advanced in Photoshop. Thanks for the help Ben!

Wow. I cannot communicate the value of this course!! The true value in this course is how the instructor identifies workflows you'll need before you'll ever realize it, repeats important information without it becoming annoying, and explains the "why" behind the techniques so well that even if you forget the exact method, you can figure it out via the principles learned. Excellent value, excellent material, excellent instructor!!!
