Image Compatibility with Lightroom
all right. If you happen to use footer shop with adobe light room like I do, I use light room to organize my pictures. They'll be certain pictures that you find will not be able to show up in light room. And there are a couple reasons why that might happen. The 1st 1 is if you use certain file formats and here I'm going to see if I can find file handling preferences. There is a setting in here called Maximize compatibility for PSD in PSB files. That means Photoshopped file format. I have this set toe always. If you ever have this set to never then all the pictures you save in Photoshopped file format will not be recognizable by adobe light room. Why is that? Because if you have a layered file, light room doesn't understand what layers are. It doesn't know how to read the individual layers that make up your image. And if this is set to never, then whenever you say a layered file and Photoshopped file format, then um it's going to save on Lee the individual layers when you set this to al...
ways, it saves not only the individual layers, but it saves a secondary version of the image that has been flattened and has no layers in there. Four other programs that do not understand how to read the layers can read that flattened version of the picture, but it is only going to be saved with the file if this is set to always. So if you use light room and Photoshopped together, I would suggest you go to your file handling preferences and turn that on. The other reason why a file might not appear in Light room is if he used the PSB file format. Pia PSB is Photoshopped Large document file for Mount. That's what you have to use if your file size goes above the limit of the Photoshopped file format, which I believe is to terabytes and size. So if you have a file size larger than that, you won't be able to use Photoshopped file format, and you might switch to PSB. While light room doesn't support PSB files, I do end up with files that air that big because I do really complex images. But those can't show up in light room, so how can I get them to show up in light room. Well, if you create a brand new file of the exact same size is one of those PSB files, then you can go to the file menu in photo shop, even find this and there's a choice called Place linked. And you could feed this newly created file that has the same width and height as the PSB file. If you choose place linked and you feed it the PSB heil, it will put it in this document as a smart object. Then save This is a funder shop file format image, and it will be a dramatically smaller file size because it won't include the individual layers that make up the PSB file, and you'll still be able to load it into light rooms. You'll end up with two images that PSB that you need because you have a huge file. Ah, and then that file placed is a smart object saved and Photoshopped file format in that one light room will be able to load. You only do that if you you make extremely large images, which I very frequently do

I am an avid reader of photoshop books, and an avid watcher of photoshop tutorials. I have attended (internet) several hundred of presentations. In the course of this endeavor, I have found my own favorite photoshop websites and instructors. Creative Live is probably the bargain out there as well as among the top three internet course sites. I have to say with great enthusiasm that the best Photoshop instructor is Ben Willmore. There are many great ones, but truly, he is the best I have come across, and, as indicated above, I have watched literally 100s of tutorials on Photoshop. I have seen all of Ben's courses, I think, and among them, this one is the best by far, and that is saying a lot, because that makes this course the best course on Photoshop to be found anywhere. I am going back and watching it twice. Not only is it comprehensive, but Ben is so familiar with his subject that he is able to explain it like no other. This is crème de la crème of Photoshop classes. I have been wanting to write this review for some time because I have been so thoroughly impressed with everything about this class!

Highly recommended if you want to take your Photoshop skills to the next level. Ben Willmore is clear, concise, and professional. He also has a good speaking voice that is not distracting but also keeps you engaged. Lastly, I would recommend that as you become more advanced, increasing the speed of the video (one of the options given on the menu)...especially if you've gone through the course once before and maybe want to watch it again. The double speed is very efficient as you become more advanced in Photoshop. Thanks for the help Ben!

Wow. I cannot communicate the value of this course!! The true value in this course is how the instructor identifies workflows you'll need before you'll ever realize it, repeats important information without it becoming annoying, and explains the "why" behind the techniques so well that even if you forget the exact method, you can figure it out via the principles learned. Excellent value, excellent material, excellent instructor!!!
