Demos
Hi. In this video, we're gonna talk about demos. So I talked to a lot of artists and um especially new ones who still think that the best thing to do is just make some demos and pitch them to labels and someone will put them on. That's just not the way to do it these days, especially if your demos still sound like demos. OK? Record companies aren't going to invest in something that is low production value and doesn't already have a fan base to multiply basically and they want to see something that's working. OK? So you making low production value demos and just pushing them out to, you know, all of the different uh record labels and stuff like that whilst not building anything online is a mistake. So you need to make sure that you are investing in yourself. You are investing your sound and your output is increasingly getting better and better and better. Just don't be in the mindset that someone's gonna take care of all of that for you because it just isn't true anymore. OK? You need t...
o find producers, team up with people who are gonna help you um reach your goals, reach your production goals and, but also um relationships that are reciprocal as well so that you're gonna help them um become the next producers and, and, and what have you, the important matter here is that uploading your demos to um soundcloud as private tracks and then just trying to get signed isn't necessarily um the way to go. So invest in yourself, invest in your sound, invest in your output, invest in your content, invest in your brand and move forward in the new music business because that's how it works. Now people want to see stuff that is already a proof of concept, at least hotel is useful and I'll see you in the next video.
