Sharing Images with Adobe Portfolio

while you're at that point in your career, you have a bunch of awesome photos that you've edited and you have some galleries and things out there that people are seeing. But if you really want a custom website, well you can do that with Lightroom and adobe portfolio. It's part of the Creative Cloud and it's included for free in most subscriptions. And so you probably already have this and maybe you didn't even know about it. And so let me show you a real live example of adobe portfolio at work. So we're gonna go over here to my computer and I'm gonna go to a web browser and I can go to Mark Wallace photography dot com. And when I do, we get this website, it's got some galleries in here. So here's some people, I can click on those galleries and get a full size image and zip through there. So people can see that stuff, they can close that um they can go back to my page, they can see some other galleries. You get the idea. So it's it's all of that stuff that you would normally have in a w...

eb page. I've got some links up here about me. Here's my information about who I am. My contact information is up here. I've got my Mark on a bike website um from my travels around the world, links to social media, all the stuff that you need in a website is there. And so um you can build this out using adobe portfolio. So how do you do that? Well, on the Creative Cloud app, if you click on that in the left hand side you'll see adobe portfolio. And so if you don't have this little application installed it is a free application that comes with Lightroom and so make sure you have the adobe Creative cloud application and you'll get all of this stuff to manage your updates and all your applications and stuff in the adobe creative cloud. So we're gonna click on portfolio and that is going to take us to a web browser and we can then work on our website. Now we can create a brand new site for free. We can have as many websites as we need. So I've got one already built out we could start from scratch but instead just based on time we're just gonna edit a site that I've already created. This is not a portfolio tutorial but I will show you how you can create some really cool things. So you can see on the right hand side this looks like my website because this is how it looks sort of what you see is what you get. And so on the left hand side over here you can change all your different things. Your pages and integrations and themes and settings and all that kind of stuff. The integration with Lightroom is automatic. So if I click on pages you can see that I have cinematic portraits and people in studio and all of these things. These our Lightroom albums and one B hans project, we're going to talk about Beyonce Next. But there is one B. Hence project that I've included. I'm gonna turn that off. I just want to show my lightroom albums. What if I want to add another album? Well I can just go over here. There's this little button that says add page. And so let's go first to Lightroom and let's figure out how to make an album that would show up here. So what I want to do is there is an album that I have in my models folder and it is of um some really cool Sparks Flying. So this is Lydia Sparks and I think I've got some images that have already been chosen. And so there we go. So we have these images. I'm going to select all of these images and then I am going to create a new album. So I don't want all of the images from this album, I just want a few of them. I'm going to create one and I'm going to say this is Lydia Winners. Okay, so this is something we might want to talk about why she's not wearing eye protection. Um so maybe we'll do that at a different time but this is one of my favorite photo shoots and so I want to post this and let people see all of that stuff. So now I've got that I've got my album, it's in models. So I'm gonna move that from my model's album, into my photo portfolio folder. So it's easy to find. So now when I go back over here to adobe portfolio, I can click add page and it's gonna say, what do you want to add? I want to add a Lightroom album, I can click on that, It's gonna open a new page and it's showing me all my folders. And so I have my Mark Wallace photo portfolio album, and then I have my live Sparks. So I'm going to import those. So that is going to uh take a couple of seconds, not very long because everything is already on the internet, it's already in the cloud. There's nothing to upload. It's already there. So now that I have that if I want to, I can change a few things. And so, you know what? I just realized I did, I made a mistake. So, no problem, I can undo this. So, Lydia Sparks, I'm going to click on that and I'm gonna click on this little thing and I'm gonna say delete that page. Yes, delete the page. Now the mistake that I made, maybe you've spotted it at home is I dragged all of the ah all of the Lydia images and what I wanted to drag is the winners. So we should have had Lydia winners over there. Okay, let's try that again. Ad page. A Lightroom album, what Lightroom album I want. Lydia winners. I don't want every single image. I just want the ones that I selected. And I'm gonna say import selected and then that is going to come over and there it is. If I want to now, I'm in this photo grid, I can reorder that I can manage the image, I can edit the grid style so I can tell it how many images per row. So maybe I want more images per row. I can tell it what with I have all of that kind of stuff. And so you can sort of do that. Um so I like how that looks. It's all good. Now, I'm gonna say update the live site And it says one moment we're updating your site and it's really amazing because that's it. So, I'm gonna go back to the editor. If I go over here to my website and this is live on the internet right now and reload the page, you can see now. I have Lydia Winners and I would probably change the name of that. But here are all those images that I wanted to choose from. My Lightroom gallery. If I don't like that title, I can go to my portfolio, I can change this page header, edit the info. So instead of Lydia Winners, let's maybe say Lydia Sparks lying and this is a demo of Sparks, whatever you want to type. So you can put in anything you want. I can update that. And so just like that, I'm taking images from Lightroom, throwing them into my portfolio and then they are showing up live. So if I go back to my Lydia Winners and I'll refresh that page, Lydia Sparks Flying. This is a demo of Sparks and there you have it. It's all done. So when you're in Lightroom, that's the, that's the reason that we're creating all these very specific albums and smaller albums and titling them in ways that are recognizable because as we start to use adobe portfolio and adobe be hands and the other connections that we're gonna talk about a little bit later, that helps us to really understand where those images are that we're going to be working with. So, these folders and albums and your organization is really going to pay off. Okay. Now that we have shown you how you can use adobe portfolio and if you're interested in adobe portfolio, make sure you just go and play with it. You can't really mess anything up. You can really quickly learn how to use it and build a custom website. And the awesome thing is Lightroom and Adobe portfolio work together. But what if you want to get your images, two other creatives or creative agencies, you want to get your work out there. So people will hire you. Well, there is a website called Adobe be hans and that's what that's all about. We're gonna talk about that next

What a great class! I've started & stopped a few Lightroom classes up until now, but generally gotten bored, confused or felt I needed to step away to learn something else like Adobe Bridge first. Mark is a great instructor, engaging, specific & very clear with his explanations. I finally feel confident to play in Lightroom instead of feeling constantly overwhelmed by what I don't know!! Awesome! Thank you, Mark, you've also inspired me to dream about travelling again now the world is opening back up :)

I'm glad I bought this course. It was very basic but just what I wanted. My plan was to see if Lightroom could replace my current Lightroom Classic. Some of Lightroom functions are fantastic it looks like many of the functions I use with Lightroom Classic are just not there. So in short Mark answered many of my questions.
