Making an Instagram® Video
So when you go to instigate alive and you click on the gear, you click on following and you see that 57 there these air, all the accounts that I am currently following and there's a reason there's a few there, and it's because they are the only ones associated with this production. So all the people that are sitting in the live audience they're handles are all here, and all the people who have been guest on the show they're in here is well. And we even have some of the producers, the makeup artists and some of the people here it creativelive that are in the back end here. So for those of you that really didn't hear their name or they use their name and you want to get in there, this is the place to find them. And I am looking for Sandy because we talked yesterday. She came up here is a guest, and we talked about redoing her bio, and I am really impressed with the results, and I want you all to take a look here and see what she's done with the emojis, what she's done with the layout she...
put her u R l and I'm really impressed to see this, but not only to see this, but to see that she's also loaded up some pictures. So kudos to you for getting that down. I want to prop into a few more accounts that we've been talking about, this one in particular, which is my favorite picture of all pictures that I've been saying. This is pumpkin watching me teach you how to use instagram. So if this cute little dog can sit there and watch and listen, you all can do the same. So this is this priceless. There's a few more things that I want to go through right in here. I want to show you We had camera on yesterday, as you all know. And if you're not following them, you should absolutely do that. They have a presence on Twitter as well. And who else they want to show you? Some of these we already brought up yesterday. I'm gonna give you give a shout out to official Hayhoe that's coming on later today. And we also have Peck who will be in the house today. And he even did a little shout out here which I like seeing. And then we have um, see, I want to bring up this account in particular because this is one of the artists that I'm really excited, that she's posted not only pictures of watching, which I appreciate, but she's also pits showed a picture of what she's creating. So she's she's showcasing. You know that her product along with what she's learning. So she's clearly listening and doing a great job. And I really like seeing her bio as well. So everyone's back here and you guys should all take a peek and get in there and interact with them. Start following them. They are a part of this community and you can learn from them. We talked yesterday also about the URL on your page and where you want to take people to. So I change that up last night to take you all right to my website, where you can download a free pdf of a document we put together specifically for you of seven things not to do on instagram and so you can grab that today we also talked about what to post, so I'm going to show you some of the things that we've uploaded here on this account. So we talked about behind the scenes what it looks like to show your workplace. We talked about some products that you sell featuring you know, them in a beautiful splash way, like these earrings here from Amillia Rose Jewelry. And we talked about, um, books that you're reading, and I mentioned this was one of my favorites. Jab, jab, jab. Right hook. So these are all great posting ideas, And, um, I want to share because I'm gonna be getting into video today. We're gonna talk about how to create your own. We're gonna actually do some right here. I want to show you a couple that I have done that. Um will kind of get your appetite wet. So this is using one of my favorite APS called Flipper Graham. And there's no music, but you can get the idea. You That's me. Rollerblading. It's one of the things I like to dio I'm on Cape Cod. I'm showing you a stop and go video that we're gonna be doing here live for you today. And then this is one with my husband again. No audio, but we're going to just show you what you can dio with video. And I'm gonna give a demonstration today of how to use flip program. So we're gonna do a stop and go, We're going to do flip program, and then we're gonna have a guess that's gonna actually show you how to create video here today as well. Okay, so now I'm gonna go back to the presentation. Do you want to hear one story before you get started? I think it's really powerful. Jonah Wilson is joining us and he says I'm 17 and I've already had an entrepreneurial spirit that's been endorsed by my parents. I'm in the process of launching a podcast on young entrepreneurship and I've learned so much about Instagram Would you believe a teenager wasn't on instagram until you explain how powerful it is business. Thank you. What a lot of people think. Or what I heard when I first started teaching that it was just a place for teenagers, and it's awesome. The playing field is equal. It doesn't matter what age you are. It doesn't matter where you are with your business. It doesn't matter if you're a big brand or a small business you can absolutely have a presence. They are and and make, you know, connect with your community as we are. So we're gonna talk about strategies that will terrible to charge your brand and the vet the value of video, which is really exciting. What does video look like on Instagram? And we're gonna do a stop and go video here in just a minute. So you have upto 15 seconds on the stop and go video and you can take the video and stop and you can delete it Or you can just take it all consecutively and you can pre record it. And when you do, you can just upload that and share it. So today we're gonna do a video with the ought, the live audience, a stop and go video, and we're gonna talk about different ideas that those could be for all of you. You can show if you're a foodie. You can show how to create that recipe. You can show how to. If you're an artist or jewelry maker, you can show the pieces that you're using. You can show how you put it together and then you can show the end results you can also show as we did with with actual photos you can show behind the scene with video. And of course you can get those testimonials. You can even show bloopers. I mean, I'm sure Nicole can relate to this. Everyone loves to see video bloopers at the end of a video because we're all not perfect, and we make mistakes and people. It just kind of humanizes the whole video when you have those bloopers at the end, and a lot of work goes into making videos when you do them. But with Instagram, you can do it so quickly, and you can delete that little section and go back. So if you'd have an area that you just don't like, you just delete and then you can move on and recreate it. And it's a way that you can actually, you know, it doesn't limit. It doesn't limit you to what you can sell. When you have a good video, you can really put it out there and show people what you're doing with what you know. If you want to put together, um, I use it at my store when I put together a vignette of what we're spelling, and I go around and I show people the products. And I also get testimonials from the people that are in the store, and we then upload it and we get a lot of engagement on our videos and sometimes more than our posts. You can have the videos be uploaded with music, or you can have it just be voice. So there's all different creative ways that you could be creating videos on instagram. Um, Nicole, I know that you do a lot with videos. I'd love to hear some of the ideas that you're doing specifically with Instagram for your clients. Um, I have two different things to different avenues that we go right now. I am teaching them how to take their on the goal videos and edit those down either and I movie or right there in Instagram or other APS that are out there that I'm sure you guys will be talking about today. So that's one school of thought. The other one is, um, the 3 to 5 minute videos that I edit for them professionally, with their logo and the lower thirds with their name and logo and Web sites on it. We have to creatively be able to take those videos and condense it down to 15 seconds to do. Ah, 15 2nd video. So that is what we will be specializing in. We're literally going to be telling your story in 15 seconds, right? So it can be. You know, what I like is that, you know, YouTube could be overwhelming and everyone they hear video. And I need video for my business. I don't know where to start and setting up for YouTube. Video can be time consuming and to have the right lighting the right outfit and to get it all going. But with Instagram, you really can create these videos on the go. And because you only have 15 seconds, you need to get a little creative with how you're doing that. So if you're a podcaster, you know you can show the behind the scene with your mike. Like I said, if you're an artist, I love seeing how what materials artists used to create their end product. So even down to the brushes and the paint and the type of paint in the actual canvas that you're using, the more you show what you're doing to create the art you're producing? I think the more value it has to the person purchasing it, um, So right now we're gonna get we're gonna have our live audience create video with us, and it's gonna be a stop and go video in instagram we all have. You guys are all getting the hashtag signs right? Getting ready. That means I'll say it out loud if you don't know. Yeah, we're getting our hash tag on, right? You guys get excited. We have 15 seconds and we have 10 people in the audience. So this is going to be creative, Sue. The other thing I was gonna say about the 2nd video is you usually get people to watch a 2nd video because they know what their time commitment ISS. So if you can get people, they're watching a 15 2nd video versus a 3 to 5 minute video on YouTube or a 10 minute right video on YouTube. So really, the magic is and they know they're only committed to 15 grams. That's that's a really great point, because people do have 15 seconds to watch a video, especially one that's gonna be It's awesome as this, right? I'm gonna start with the two of you. All right? You mean the video hashtag on, baby? All right, So what you want to do is you want to open the app and you can choose camera or video. So I'm gonna choose video here on the right. And the big red button in the middle is where you start the video now, right above the red button. There's a flip button where you could reverse it and actually take your own video. And that's how I did myself rollerblading on the cape When you saw that video real quick. I was holding the video here, and I flipped it so you could see May so you could be creating your own selfie videos. That's the point. Okay. You guys ready for some action? Here you go. So impressing it, holding it, and I'm letting go. So this is a stop and go concept. Now, if we did not like that, I'm just going to show by example. We would throw it in the trash just like that and start again. You can throw segments in the trash you cannot, or you can delete the whole video, but you can't choose which segment to delete if you've already created it. All right, One more time. You guys ready? Oh, love. Yeah. Okay, so we're gonna do it in groups of four a little bit over here. Okay, You guys ready? Hash tag. Creative life. Do it yourself, but ready so you can get the other thing is, let me just say this. So at my store on the cape, I'm not doing it all at the same time. I'm literally moving around. I'm doing one section and I'll go over to a customer and say, What do you think of the bracelet? And I'll say, I'll tell them what to say. They don't know what to say. Get really fun. And I'll go back to the table where I'm selling something or I'll go to the check out area so you can You can have this in this mode and even actually be in two places. You can start in your office, and then you can go outside and start the video. It doesn't have to all be done at once. So, like, you could actually take this somewhere else at this point, as long as you don't want to take another instagram so you can You can just keep it going. Okay? So who did we leave off on? Are you ready? It's the gal. I've okay. Creative life. Hashtag junkie. Okay, so now we're down to the last section here. See if I clicked on that X, it would throw it in the trash. I could throw it in the trash and start again if that didn't work. So you have as much to You know, how much you have left by that blue bar moving. And when you get to the end, it's going to say basically that it's over. Ready? Hash tag, Teoh. Creative hashtag Instead, I want Okay, so we stopped. And so this is actually the video created, and we're going to go with it just because we want to continue on and teach all of our listeners how to do this. So when you're done, you would press next. Yeah, a little, you know, amateurish. But it's so it's good it works. OK, so that's our video. That's good. That's going to get right now, But I want to point out three other features here, so this enhances it the one on the far left. The middle one stabilizes it. You need to stabilize it. And the one on the far right allows you to choose which image you want to be. Your cover photo. So you just simply move it like this. You guys can all you guys can actually help me with this year. We wish I stop. We like that. I think we like the host to I think we want to give a shout out to the host there. Just Yeah. So that's what we're going to use for the cover. And then you just simply press next and then you're going to go into your caption and having and insta uh, awesome time at creative up. See what popped up So you can just press on it, Um, with at instigate alive. And we're gonna hash tag instigate alive is well, so that this shows up in the feed with all the other hashtags with insta gal I and that sometimes your fingers move too fast on the end. So awesome. Oh, got it. So I'm not gonna go back in inst Uh, so if you hold down, you can get right to the point. We need to add the t to get it. All right, you guys looks good. No, it's OK. So I'm gonna press, okay? And we're gonna share this, and then it depending on your wife, I Sometimes it takes a little bit longer to finish up, but it should be right here in our feed. Here. It ISS and you all now can go in and comments and let us know what you think of our video. I think it's pretty awesome. It is. So that's how you do the stop and go video on Instagram. Are there any questions? Yes. Can you tag people on videos? You cannot take people on video. So in your description, you can tag whoever you want. You can at mention wherever you want. So if I had the time, I would have at mentioned each of you because you were in the video. But you cannot tag video. Good question. Has anyone in the live audience not done what? Who has done to stop the Goa video? That's a better question, Nicole. Have anything you want to add to what I showed. Actually, I have nothing to add. You covered it you got it. Go. You gotta get out there. That was clear for all of you. We've got a question coming in from online couture cakes. Wants to know is there a way to save the Instagram video? I have lost videos before because I tried to save them. They save automatically right to my IPhone. That videos right on my IPhone. So where would they find the video? In the phone. How would they go about Find the camera? Yeah, in the camera. It's there. Yes. In fact, I brought some over to, um you know, the ones that I shared this morning were brought over from my camera roll. And just to clarify Dave, uh, Tobermory tub. ERM I'm sorry, Tebow. Murray. I think that's right. Is that video? Was that done within instagram or using flick, Click A gram that was in instagram. That was That was right in instagram. So what I'm demonstrating right now is what you can do. Just simply being in the instagram app and not using 1/3 party app. We're going to talk about some third party app soon. But I wanted you all to know that you are empowered in instagram to not only take fabulous photos, but you also can take videos. And you don't have to be professional to do it. I was interested in the stabilizer feature cause I've done it while I was snowboarding and, like with my nieces and nephews got weight U s snowboarding. Yeah. Wow. So how does that work with the stabilizer? You just hit it and then it automatically stabilizes it Will it can stabilize the movie that you created. Okay. Yes. Yes, it was really shaky. I haven't really used that featured on my videos even when I'm moving it. Like when I was rollerblading, I didn't stabilize it. But it's there if you feel like it's just way too much jerky Too druggy. Yes. I also have a bag of tricks that I have different things that help you to actually take your own selfies and take your own videos, things that hold the camera and help you to do that. Oh, yes. There are tools to do that with. Yeah, absolutely. I just hold in my hand and people think I'm crazy when I'm rollerblading and taking What's she doing now? I'm curious to hear more from our students here. How are you guys gonna use this specifically for your business? Now, where do you think video would work? Well for you? Well, I'm planning on traveling, and you know, when I travel, it's always for business. And I plan on taking videos now, when I'm in lots of places. And also when we were talking about behind the scenes because I'm gonna be visiting hotels and other things, you know, on a professional basis and see some of that stuff, so that could be fun for people. Um, I want to get one of those that he has called it a camera pro. You can attach it to your head and throwing a record. GoPro. I can record myself painting and then edit. It is like a really quick little That's great. Yeah, um, I plan on using it for my blawg. Actually, I have a bio page and an about page, and it's a whole lot of paragraphs that I don't think anyone's really reading. So how much cooler would be to have a video introducing yourself? Because then, your personality, since I'm so great video that it doesn't come through in the text, it's great idea. Really? And that's very creative. We do have a question from online. Instant newbie wants to know. I'm sorry, Michelle. My bell says, How do I add music to the video? Yeah, so I did not purposely of music here right now, but right in the back. One of the features is that you can upload music right from your library. Yes. So they have to have it saved on their phone in their library first in order to upload it. Yeah. So it's Yes. So whatever music you have in your music library, you can access and upload it with music. Now, do they need to be concerned with coffee? Right And licensing. When? There for 15 seconds. No, it's just the 15 seconds. So I haven't heard of anyone having any issues using music in the library on their instagram post. If anyone else has, I'd like to hear. Yeah, well, just because of the nature of my business, I have to be extremely careful. So I have used, um, you know, popular songs on the radio. But for the most part, I do not use copyrighted music. I only use royalty free. And I have all that uploaded into my library. Good. Yeah, I would not put a song even if it's really sure. I had, like, just I didn't think you could recognize the song and it was on my pick play post for, Ah, Facebook Feed. And they did take it down. Who took it down? Facebook took it down. I said, Artist, you know, it's Ah, think so. They will take it down. Yeah, I have not had any issues with any of the ones I've done within Instagram with the music I've uploaded to date, and I've I've shared and uploaded a lot using different, um, video APS. We have different opinions coming in about about an instagram music. Some some of our chatters say you can't use me music in the Instagram video if it's, you know, if it's not license, so better safe than sorry. Yeah, and actually, there's a lot of great services where you can get music that is a very inexpensive license. You could just do a quick Google search and find it. Just if you want Teoh be safe rather than sorry, Absolutely. It's good to know your own sound effects would be useful there to weigh heard sounds in here. You may not even need music, right? So I just want to thank everyone else there who is up loading all the great content here that we talked about using the hashtag insta gal. I've I see more videos coming in, which is great. There's 834 posts, so clearly the community is engaging and you're all a part of that. And we so appreciate it. Anyone else in the audience want to add to the videos? I thought you had Robin really excited because we dio tracing. I do a lot of videos for education purposes. So the fact that we can share with some of our outtakes will be really good because there's some pretty hilarious ones, and I think it also makes us even more riel. You know, Teoh relate toe our students, so definitely, yeah. I mean, it's kind of endless what you can do. You can just share on a personal note or you can share professionally. We talked about, You know, one of my favorites for me to watch is how people are cooking what they're making. And I'm looking at this delicious plate of food that they're sharing, and you know a lot of people that are in the food business. I did see that you're now sharing how toe make that recipe, which I was smiling at this morning. Everyone's listening and understanding that when you keep that content right in the description, it has more value. You can do the same with the video, especially if you didn't want to type all that information. You can say all of that, and everyone has 15 seconds right yesterday about when you bring somebody in to help you in some of the processes to take a video, even if it's a short one toe help, even set up some systems and stuff. It's kind of a quick way to do that, which is really awesome, Yes, and we're going to talk about some of those systems for sure. Any other questions coming in over there were good? No, they're just amazed that you can do this, and they're they're getting really creative with some of the ways that they might do it. You know, it's interesting the video spent out for a while and a lot of people don't didn't understand, didn't even know that It was a feature with an instagram. So I generally post in the in the throes of my summer months when I'm really selling with Soupy Do. I definitely do want to videos a week. It really shakes things up and people do enjoy watching videos. It just brings them toe life. There's more movement this. You can hear people's voices. You can relate to them, I think a little bit more than still photos often. And you can. Like I said, if you don't like the video, you can throw it in the trash and start again.

I tuned in to the live stream from Cork Ireland a few days ago. It was late into the evening GMT. What I noticed was infectious enthusiasm laced with fun and instructional support. Without so much as a glass of water to rehydrate her @suebzimmerman went storming from one success to another. She was so sharp, empathetic & strong in her own skin - just the kind of guide you'd be proud to have.Every day I urge another person to check her out - because, for a business person who wants to become loved on line, she is the ideal coach. I've tuned in to many people on line - many who project an image of being wonderful - SueB delivers. Together with @artisancheesecompany, she "rocks" as you say in North America.Thank you for all the help you've given me and my company @changeagentsbranding. PS I've never met SueB - I simply love her ethos on Instagram. Paul O'Mahony @omaniblog
