Using Canva Instagram® App

we're gonna actually give a demonstration on camera, which is a web based tool where you can create amazing graphics. So I'm gonna show you how to do that. And, um after I give a little demonstration, we're gonna call up one of the in studio audience members who hasn't used it yet on DSA. I'm excited to do that. I'm gonna get on the computer. So when you when you open up camera, this is what it looks like. It's a really simple, elegant, powerful, Web based tool where you can really create graphics. It's a real game changer, especially for small business owners that just don't have the graphic team or know how to really create graphic content when you're gonna love this. Um, and you could basically use a template for any of your social places. So if you're looking to create content on Pinterest, this is where you go. I usually only stay here on social media and do all my instagram images here, but you might have a presentation or a poster Facebook cover. This is amazing place to create ...

that really awesome Facebook cover that sometimes people pay their graphic designers to do you can do it right here in Canberra. Um, you could do blawg post graphics and a Kindle cover, so there's a lot of options here. They are still in beta, and that's why the bees right there. So this is a relatively new site I used to use pic monkey, but I've converted to camera and just love them. Down here you will see images that we have created. They stay stored here. So that's the library of some of the things that I've done in the past. And as you can see by what I'm showing you, you can do quotes you condone up images in, and they have all these templates. As I mentioned, where you can pick you could add text. There's a lot of little graphics that you can choose from toe. Add to that and you know, I've created thank you cards here different things for like, there's an IPhone image that you can pop people in and have a bubble coming out. So this is actually a very addicting place to be, especially if you want to up your game and your graphics. So, um, this is what I recently did. I want to just pull it up and maybe I can edit this out. So So what you can do is you can drop your image in by picking the template that you want. So I chose the social media temple template to get here, which is for instagram specifically. And over here on the left, you get to choose, um, which layout you want and the ones that have the camera on it are ones that you pay for. So they're a dollar each for some of the, um, added images. But you don't need to spend any money to do it at all. You could. They have so many choices here that you can really go through and find a layout that you like. So what I did here was just simply choose a square layout and dropped in my graphics here, Um, we're gonna we're gonna build one out with Nicole. Um and I just think I wanted first just take you down the buttons here on the left because there's just so much that you can dio here you can add text. Now, each one of these images see where it says free. So you know which ones are free, you can pull over. I'll just drop something on it so that you can see literally drop it on there. You can resize it. You can change the color of the image. So when I click on this, see how the yellows up here? You can go in and choose whatever color you want. Or if you know what your color code is. Fear graphic color. You can put it right in there, and it will match right up to that. So if I wanted to change the color to the background there, I would change that. And then you can also change the text color as well. You can even delete the text. Um, you can. Okay, so So if we get to the white here, you can delete the text. If you don't want that, or you can, and then you can add your own text on top of it. So it starts as a template, and it has some words on it that it just giving you as a guide. But you can delete those words, change the colors and add whatever you want. And literally you just drag and drop images. So I took this image. It's gonna be a T shirt at my store. Of course. It's an instagram of the shape of the cape, and we're gonna print Put that on there. And then I put a banner which I chose over here, and I dropped it in and I changed the colors of the banner. So if I wanted the white to be another color, we just click it like that and you click out and the anchors I found by searching you can search words for for images that you're looking for. So some of the anchors are free, and some of them costs money. And I chose one of the free anchors. Um, it just dropped it right in over here and, you know, literally took it over here. And this dropped it down over here. And I wanted that to be like a little border again. You can change the size. You can change the color. You can change the location. If you don't like what you did, you could just put it in the trash. You can make a copy of your whole image if you want to, and save it so that you have more than one um, this could be cropped. There's filters. There's so much that you can dio and literally spend so much time here creating something. So I just turned that into a square, and I can delete it. I want to upload a different image from my library here. My uploads. I'm gonna just show you that drag and drop again. So we created some, um, with I'm gonna drag like about this is ah, Web based thing. I wanted to dio. So what if we were gonna advertise for an upcoming webinar? I might do that and then change the type toe. What? The call of action waas. So it's literally dragging and dropping. The other thing I want to bring to your attention is the backgrounds that you can choose from. You can have it be a solid color again. They're showing you all the different ones that are free, or you can change it out like that. And then below is usually where the paid versions are. There's just so much you can do here, and I just love that it makes it really easy to create this great these great graphics. Now, when you're done, you can share and publish the link. You can share it with your team and send that linked to someone that might be in charge of upload in your timeline photo or creating your instagram content so you might have some of that's really good at Camba and absolutely loves it. And you want to get that your instagram feed. Um, your folder filled up with post and photo and images toe share out later so you can take what you're doing here and have them all built out and then save the link. Share it with your team member or email it to yourself and have it for later. Or you can share it right to Twitter or share it right to Facebook if you don't want to share it on Instagram. So this isn't just for Instagram. This is for every single social media platform. It's just a really great place to go to create instagram content and visuals. Has anyone in the live audience uses yet you have grace? You want to talk a little bit about your experience using it? I've used it for a few things. It's not as quick and dirty, and I mean in a good way as picking up my phone and just popping something untoward. Swag. Also, I know Photoshopped, so it's pretty easy for me to just pop in there. But I do like how there's a lot of graphical elements and choices, and you can search especially for someone who doesn't know design. Who does know Photoshopped? This is like you said, a real game changer. That's great. I'm just trying to match up the bank a little bit better. Yeah, so, um, I would love to call up Nicole to do a sample for you, and I'm not. You know, this this is quick with what was in my library. But we can upload some visual content that would work for you, and you can choose. So just to get you situated, Nicole, right, Because I'm a Mac users. I know. So I'm struggling with the most a little bit, but I'm not used to that. So that's why I'm not being as creative here is. I usually am. So what we have here are you would choose your layout first, um and then your tax and maybe for you, it might just be an image. It doesn't have to be a photo, so I just have these photos in my library. So what's on the left is really three different choices that you have to create what you want. So let's just let me discover to this button so that you can publish and save. So here's that link I'm talking about. You can save. It is an image. You can save it as a pdf, you can allow anyone with this link to edit it. So if you've done something and you have people on your team and someone says, you know, you spell that word wrong, it needs to be fixed. They can go in and do that for you. So it's nice to if you want to share that link with someone, toe, let other people edit it. What I want to say first and foremost, is that this whole presentation that you are looking at that is amazing has built out in Camba. We contacted them. I had met Zack at social Media Marketing world. He is chief storyteller over it. Camba and we were struggling with creating the right slide deck for this presentation. We were using my photos, but we were just not happy with the way it was Look, looking graphically and we wanted something to be amazing. Wanted you to feel like you were experiencing Instagram as you looked at the presentation. And so I contacted that and asked him if he would help us create templates for it. So they did five of the templates, and then my team built out. All 206 sides are there of that we have seen over the past day and 1/2 now. And so my team was able to go in and do the editing that I'm talking about where you can share that link with a team member. So it's been really an amazing place for us to build out this whole presentation. And I really appreciate Camba being a part of this and helping us create this great content. All right, let me get out of here. Are you OK with the positioning of this? And I'll coach you through it while you drive? Okay? Don't. I wasn't driving very well. I didn't have my game on. I usually can do a much better job, but the graphics So So I'm gonna just kind of teach you by reentering wouldn't think so. Why don't you just take time to scroll and see what layout you like? Um, and you can even show some more. Maybe we can drop in some pictures on any of them. You can literally spend the whole day here just saying, like Instagram's wanted. This is another thing. All right. This is where I can use them. Class participation. What you guys think? Let's try about this. So that one's a paid version trying just for the sake. Oak of presentation One. That's the one. That you? Yeah. Okay, so So that's a pay, Virginia. But it's okay. I mean, we can go in and edit it. We're not We're not gonna go in the Oh, So this is actually something where you would change the type may be or if you want to pick a different one, you can and then this so you can add text overlay, change what they have by just and sometimes it helps still look down here. That's not OK. And you can choose the types die the size of the type. You can choose the style of the type. So when you're done writing what you're writing, I'm gonna show people how they can actually go in and change the textile. Okay, I love that. So right here is where you go in and choose which type cell you want. And again, there's a whole bunch of choices here. So, um, let's just change it so people can see that happening, and you can then change the point size to So you have a lot of control of how to create here. I mean, we made that too small for what we're doing. Go to 64. So why nickel won't you play with Maybe this style that you like or that you see textile that you like? Okay, I take that one. Okay. And then you can move where it's placed on the image. You can drag that type up and down if you want. Teoh. I know it's hard. Sometimes. I mean talk. All right, so we're not gonna move it. We're gonna pretend that it's moved. Okay, so let me help you with us. There we go is above the red line. That's what I want it. Okay, So if you do that and you just click on it, you could move it anywhere. You're on you can, like, grab it right. Just cool so that you want it right here in the red, lining up right in the middle there. Great. And so now you have these other two elements that you can work with in terms of text. So what we're doing here is really just changing the text on a template of graphics that you can purchase. You can upload any image, any photo into Camba, and then you can add text over it. You can add these amazing elements, these design template elements that are on the left. Here. We'll go back one more time and look through those. You can change the background color as I showed you earlier, and the upload button is over here where you can upload your images, so it's really pretty easy. There's just so many choices, and you can get, you know, Teoh back to land from Limelight. Hello, Limelight. Every single post is done in Canada, and it feels consistent, and she's always using that green someone. He used her as an example because she has committed to canvas being her source of visual content and what she uses and works well for her team that's able to create them for her. And every time you look at those images, it does have a little camp, a field. But it really works for her. And she's a huge fan of Camba. The biggest difference between words. Wag and Campbell. Oh, there's There are more choices here in Ward swag. There's more templates, those bubbles. There's overlays. You can build it out much more on wards wag its text over image. Just check. So here you have. I'll show you the banner soon. There's Icon, says the anchor that I pulled in. There's other icons. There's social media icons is while you can pin you can pull in a Pinterest image. Ah, Twitter image an instagram image on top of it and let people know that those of your social share buttons there are thousands of images to choose from. So you're using both of these using GM for more. Just, I mean, camera is a lot more. It's a graphic design looking feel. I think it ups your game a little bit, and it does take a little bit more time to create it. So it's committing. I think it's It's a it's a higher level of a design, and again it's. Instead of hiring a design agency to do work for you, you can do it yourself, just getting in here and playing a little bit again. All those backgrounds are free, and when you scroll down to the bottom, it's a dollar, and it's really seamless. The check out if you've used one of their elements that you have to pay a dollar for the check out is really easy to do. I haven't yet paid for anything, but from people that I've heard that use it, pay a dollar or two or $3 to get exactly what they want that image to look like. It's priceless and sue the did. The other difference as well is that Canada is Web based. And, uh, word swag is actually IPhone exactly right, exactly. I was on a couple of hangouts recently with some really talented designers, and what they were saying is that this doesn't have to replace a graphics person. But if so, if you had somebody that you wanted to use, you could actually use this site to generate, generate ideas and, you know, really help your designer help you quicker and, you know, with more specific direction. So cool for that, too. Yeah, well, I'm this when I couldn't change the background, and I'm going to assume that because it had a photo overlay, Yes. 00 because you took because we built this out and what you chose. Exactly. So? So if we started in a place where, I mean, you can start with just a background, okay? Like you and delete this. Okay? If you want to. I want to go over those design elements. Love it. And, you know, if anyone wants to shout out award, we can search it and see what comes up that might be relevant for their business that you guys might want to see. Um, okay. Hearts, hearts, hearts, I'm sure. Let's see. Look at that. Okay. So again, there's all these free elements. They can drop them. You can reduce them. You can bring them where you want them to be. You can delete within the element if you don't want the inside. I believe if you don't want the inside. Oh, no, not in this one. Okay. Some of them you can delete pieces of the elements again. you can change the colors now. If you had a logo that you wanted to do like a watermark, you could probably drag that in and change the opacity on it. Yep, there is a transparency capacity. I'm ed it as well. Do you have a question about logos? Like, perhaps your background was white. Could you create a logo and samba? Absolutely. Some people dio Yeah, it's a really It's a great go to Web based tool for creating pretty much any graphic you need. I, As I mentioned earlier, I've done Facebook timeline images. If I'm going to do a webinar or I want to have something, just they're announcing an event. Often I'll go into Camba to do it there because the template is already there. It's size for you don't have to figure it out. Let's go back to some of these layouts here with the different tools somebody had mentioned something else. They want to see a video camera, video camera, e don't know if that's gonna be one. All those people of yeah, and I think that thes thes air paid versions because he had the dollar pops up. I wanted to show you instagram. See, these are some of the icons that we talked about that you can grab so you could grab this. Put it down here. Yep. So right now, if you wanted to change the background on that, could you do it even better? Frowned on on this. Could you do it right now or I have to start over? Yeah, because we started with that, um and you just throw it in the trash. You just throw things in the trash that you don't want. It's actually kind of nice. We could throw it in the trash, and now we could start again. So this is where you could pull, um, a photo up and drag and drop it in. If there's something here, Have you by any chance, taken an image that you already liked that had, Ah, word swag on it. And you just needed a icon to stick on there. Will that work? Take something that you've done in words like that? You just had the ultimate like Oh, that was really good. I just wish I had my anchor on it. Yes, Yes. You couldn't take what you've done in ward swag and take a screenshot of it. Email it to yourself, save it on your desktop, uploaded to Camba and add an element another element, and then send it back. Teoh Instagram, if you want. Yes, you can use both of them. That's that's pretty creative. And I'm just still leading some of this. I'm just gonna play while white hair questions. Um, does anyone else in the audience have something they want to learn or see? There's so much here. It it really is a pretty exciting place today. So I am going to assume that all of the images that they have on their are free and clear for us to use, even though this is the free version. Yes, it ISS I, they are. I mean, if they're not, you're going. You're paying for them. So everything there is absolutely for the taking. I wanted to scroll through this because this is what people used to put on top of their images to create a banner. That's how I created this anchor banner down here. I deleted what they had over here, and I added that, and then I added the anchor elements on the end. But you couldn't drag over these bubbles, and they're just giving you ideas within the bubble of what you can do. But there's all these great shapes, and this goes on and on. You can really you can really get lost in camera for sure. There's all these different layouts, and they're always adding new ones, which I love. So again, if you see element that resonates for you for your brand, you might say I'm just gonna keep creating something in camp because I can. I can, for example, use these three leaves on every post and people that will be memorable for me. Um, so there's just there's so much greatness here, right? So you said that they created templates for you guys. The five templates, they did. So what? You're seeing my presentation, and when you see the camera and you see, I'll point them out now, I was kind of saving the reveal for this segment to give them a huge shout out because because our goal was to have the keynote done. So you feel like you're on instagram. It was too hard. Initially, we thought we might do it right from the phone, and I present on the phone but we wanted it to be square and wanted it to feel like you were viewing Instagram throughout this whole presentation. So camera graciously got on our team and worked with us to get that perfect look and feel. And I don't know if any of you saw this, but creative life did this amazing promo video 15 2nd video and they used the graphics from that video to bring it over. So it's really well branded inconsistent, which we all love, right? So can anyone if they have the paid version, do you think with can va could they create templates? Like I know what they think? What they did for us was did a custom. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. We their team did that grows. Yes. Okay. Yeah. And you could save. Like you said, you could save certain elements and then keep using them over and over again. Oh, absolutely. To make it and to go back like that. What you saw when I opened it? I didn't go search for the camera T shirt I'm creating. It was there. I just thought it start with that clearly, you know, it was me more showing you the different buttons and what they do, then coming up with the perfect graphic image over here on the right. But, um, you can save anything, and it's stored. And some of the ones that I have here, like these, are my up loads and then some of the images that you'll see what I did, you know, to create an image with text overlay. And, um, there's the There's the camera, one that I pulled over. And these are people on my team. And here's an image that I frequently used. So some of the things that I use I keep here, store them here and use them later for different things, which is great. So I'm not always having to upload so your uploads could be stored and saved right in camera that you're living. I don't know how many upload you consider. I wouldn't think there there is. And then they do that with everything that you everything that you do on their they'll save for you. You can choose to save. You can delete it. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. And if you wanted to print this, you confront it. You can Yeah, you can. Uh, could you The link. Yeah, because you're saving It is a pdf. Um, and you could just print the pdf. Oh, you're saving. It is an image. It goes right. You know, you could save it to your desktop and then print it. Great. Yeah. So you can create brochures cards. It can be printed. The ideas that were creating online graphics. But you definitely can print it for an event if you need something for an event. So it would be would print in a high rez for however you want. I mean, your print, however your printer set up, but the images come out in high rest I've used Yeah. Oh, yeah, right. Really good quality. Nicole, Is this resonating for you? Do you have any questions about it? Because we actually want Want to make sure that you're walking away, ready to go with can Camba. And you've got thing sort of makeover mentality as as how you can use it. I love it. It was really easy to use. We had some issues with the mouth because we usually do the mac, but very easy to use. And I could see where, like I said, I limelight does a lot of my graphic design, but I can see where times when I just need a last minute graphic or something. I could do this very easily. Was there any part of clicking and figuring out that was confusing? No. I think the biggest issue is going to be once you get in there, start playing around, you're gonna get lost in there. You're gonna lose a lot of hours. Yeah, you definitely dio when you first start using it. Yeah, but it was It was user friendly for me. Yeah. Matter, graphics person. So Yeah, well, you said that. And Lin said that as well. So I want to hear from you both. Feel confident that you now have what you need to create graphic now? Whole thing earlier, but I'm gonna delegate. It s so because it's not always the highest and best use of my time. But I know it exists now, and I love for me. I create email signatures and do easy things like that for my clients now. So, um, but I'm not gonna do that. I want to have somebody else do that in my agency. Right? But those icons are great. All the social, the social icons. A really great. I use those there when I was doing a promotion and I wanted people to know that I had that presence on each of those places. But what I want to hear from you is that this isn't gonna this This is adding value to instagram and how to use it by having a place to now go create really great graphic content online. And a lot of people do, like toe work on their computer as opposed Teoh on their phone, you know, using ward swag or another third party app. This is really, you know, sit down. Let me have some creative time. I could see myself using this for my clients as well. Oh, Korea for, um, intros to videos or logo. I was just gonna, um, chime in and say from someone who doesn't delegate this kind of stuff, I would definitely use this. I mean, really, really would use that. I'm so excited that, um that we've been introduced to this 22 things in particular. I'm thinking for branding. So, like your anchors, for instance. So I would want toe. I have a logo. That's pretty distinct and, you know, to be able to create materials that are branded. I think this is amazing. It's easy. You're able to do it, unlike in some of the other apse where that would be more of a challenge. So this would enable me to create my own marketing materials, frankly, and, um, I do a lot of lists because I'm travel, adventure travel, that kind of stuff. So top 10 lists, tips, places to go, things to do blah, blah, blah. Um, I think this could be an amazing way to make a couple of different templates when you want to publish a list and make it a little more visually interesting instead of just, you know, blogging a list and having it be all text and not so exciting. Um, you know, So I think for those two reasons, this would be amazing. So thank you. And like I said, I'm doing this myself. So I really feel like, um, you know, getting in there. And if you if you need to do that and you can't delegate those things, this is absolutely a solution. And I love free tools, especially first. Well, businesses, entrepreneurs. I love free tools. And the fact that you can do so much free without paying, I think is going to be very good for your average entrepreneur. There's a lot here how you guys, this is gonna hit the links and then you save them into your instagram folder. Yeah, and then I use the Miami New systems to fun, huh? It's just Yeah, it is really fun. It is. And there's there's so much more We could spend more time here, you know, and those of you that are not quite sure what to share on Facebook or what to tweet about. Can va. You can start here and created and share that content over a swell not just on instagram about your other channels if you're there and you're trying to put your followers there with visual content Great. Just timing in, You know, it's a one stop shop. I really like that about it. Um, if you're trying to create materials like I was saying in photo shop or something like that, you've got to go search out your images. Now you have your logo. But what if you want to put some other images in it could take you all day just to create one thing. And with the branding consistency, you really can create many of the things that you're gonna need right here in one place. And that's gonna lend the consistency, you know, across the board. And just another thing I want to mention. I was just curious if I could get on candle on my phone. And when you go on there, it says it's not meant for mobile, but that it's coming cool. That is what it implies that the stuff they have. So that would be really cool to I think this is a good place to end. I broke my type dress and look what came up way. Get in sunshine. That's what I want. I couldn't see bloggers really getting into this and using that template. Who is bloggers? Yeah, well, look, it's how easy, Teoh, and you know again, if you have photos if you're spaces, photography or if your designer and illustrator you can pop your work right here and enhance it and add value and make it different and have it stand out when you could add your watermark to you can to everything. Yeah, you're thinking, man, I like that way. Have some questions come in about Camba now. One question from bed. They want to know. Could images on camera be sent to Princeton, Graham to print kind of bringing together our worlds that I don't think that Instagram is linked? Teoh camera. That's great idea. But you certainly. Once it's on instagram want you shared to Instagram, you can get it to Prince to recruit. So yes, so So it's once it's there on instagram. In fact, I just want toe add to that. Now that I do my business cards on instagram, I specifically make sure that I have those images that are worthy of handing out is a business card on. And sometimes I use camera to create that Miss one of the things I hand out group and another question coming in from instant newbie. Would it be possible to get custom work from Camba? Is there a service offering that they have? I don't know. I would tweet them and ask them, and I'm loving this newbie account. They're already thinking with an outsourcing mindset s. So I don't know the answer to that. I just know that I was able to Heaven help me out, Work with me. You might have heard that might be possible on Mia's, The media connect the power chat. Oh, on the Google hang out with guy. Yeah, Fitzpatrick. I think that they did say that there were some services that they were either able to dio are going to be adding on for custom jobs. So that's great. I mean, yeah, growing because you said that that was a great Google Hang out that the media connected specifically about canvas. I'm gonna announce it Google Plus Guy Kawasaki and Peg Fitzgerald, Fitzpatrick and and me and toss me a boss. A great Google hang out with elaborate detail on camera and the philosophy behind it is a company and how they're growing. And it was really well done. And check BIA's instagram for the link to the YouTube. Oh, they sure I'm sure there's an image on Instagram Connect. It's worth checking out if you want to learn more about Camba. Great. Now we have another question. Come in from Mary W. And they say I'm just getting started on Instagram and other newbie out there. We love to see that, but I see people with large collages, graphics, etcetera, as a large profile pic on their Instagram homepage. Can you create something like that with Canada and how would you upload that? Okay, so I'm interpreting that question as each image on INSTAGRAM is creating a bigger image. Yeah, sort of piecing images together to create collages. Yeah, yeah, I've seen that a couple times. It's really cool. So each each image that's uploaded an INSTAGRAM is creating a bigger image, and that requires understanding where to crop, the image you started with and how toe uploaded an instagram. I have never created one like that. I don't think I have the patience to do that. I think it's a big, time consuming job, and it's Teoh. Just share one bigger picture. I would think you could certainly use Camba to start that process, save the images and upload it. But I think you need to start with a grid, um, and break it apart and figure out which ones gonna come up is a square. But I've seen it. It's very creative. That's an opportunity for another app to create easy way of doing that fantastic. So much

I tuned in to the live stream from Cork Ireland a few days ago. It was late into the evening GMT. What I noticed was infectious enthusiasm laced with fun and instructional support. Without so much as a glass of water to rehydrate her @suebzimmerman went storming from one success to another. She was so sharp, empathetic & strong in her own skin - just the kind of guide you'd be proud to have.Every day I urge another person to check her out - because, for a business person who wants to become loved on line, she is the ideal coach. I've tuned in to many people on line - many who project an image of being wonderful - SueB delivers. Together with @artisancheesecompany, she "rocks" as you say in North America.Thank you for all the help you've given me and my company @changeagentsbranding. PS I've never met SueB - I simply love her ethos on Instagram. Paul O'Mahony @omaniblog

I tuned in to the course from my office in Cork Ireland - late in the evening for about 2 hours. What I noticed was infectious enthusiasm laced with fun & instructional support. Because for a business person who wants to become loved on line - she is the ideal coach. I've tuned in to many people on line - many who've projected an image of being wonderful. SueB delivered. Together with @artisancheesecompany on Instagram - she "rocks" - as you say in North America. That 120 minutes with SueB gave me enough to last me for weeks. What I'd have got from the full course, I can barely imagine - but I bet it was phenomenal value. Thank you very much for the help you've given my company ChangeAgents Branding and the people we serve.
