On Set - Partnering with Other Creatives
even if you're running your business by yourself, it's always good to help partner with other creatives in this instance. I'm partnering with a makeup artist and she has her own business going. But what's really cool is that we're able to collaborate um as far as getting clients were also able to collaborate creatively. She helps me stylized and pick the wardrobes, and then she really does a great job of helping amplify what I'm able to shoot. Um it's kind of a really awesome way to help each other's businesses in a certain way. Um We're both helping each other but we're also both making money. Um and it's a really good partnership to help grow your business. Um It not only helps you grow, it helps you get other clients, it keeps you accountable. Um I think that's one of the things that I really enjoy about working with other creatives and other businesses is that um when you're by yourself you kinda just have yourself to worry about, but when you're working with someone else, you want...
to step up to their level um and help them grow and you also want to make sure that you're not sort of uh you know, procrastinating or falling behind on your own uh sort of laurels. So um partnering with someone in a sense where two businesses are working together to create a product. I think it's a wonderful practice and if you can find someone that helps you with your specific photography, whether it be food styling or headshots or modeling, it's always I think a good idea for me, I'm very lucky because I live in L. A. And there are a lot of different creatives here. Um I also work in the film industry and there's a lot of crossover between still photography and film and video. Um That's why I was able to find, um not only other photographers and assistance and a makeup artist, but there are a lot of different stages and studios and places to shoot um, in your community. I think the best way to find someone is using instagram using social media, um going out on facebook and actually just getting out there and shooting and meeting and talking to people. They're also certain websites and social media that you can use to sort of find other creatives that you're looking for uh to help you grow your business.
