On Set - the Shoot

Alright, so we're in a rented studio space here. I've just started my new headshot photography business and we've got a couple people were shooting today um Today I set the backdrop really close to this door so that we can take photos of it. Um And basically I'm just starting to create content for my new business. So the full run through of how I do photos and create my product starts with the client. I find the client. Once they're interested, I asked for a deposit, I set a date. Typically I set up a lot of different clients on the same day. Once we set the date, I have them give me a deposit. I send a tiny little contract to have them fill out so they don't cancel on me. Um I then send, I have a sheet that I basically prepared and I'll share this with you basically, it says what to wear, um how to come, where to park, what the address is, all this information um their time. So they're prepared and they know what to bring, they know what to, where they know what to be prepared for. On...

ce they get that they show up in the morning, I show up a little bit earlier, get the studio set. I set up the backdrop. Um I coordinate with my makeup artist, so she's here and ready to go early. Um And then I go through the wardrobe that my client typically brings with the makeup artist and we pick out the looks for this. I'm doing three different looks. Um and that's typically what I'm gonna be doing with my clients is having multiple looks and a look is basically you know what they're wearing. So I have three different outfits, more or less. We go through, we pick what we're gonna shoot for the day, we decide what we're gonna do, we pick it, she then or he go into makeup and that usually takes from 30 to 50 minutes and basically it's just a really natural makeup coverage and it's really enhanced my headshot shooting. Um I wouldn't necessarily do that normally for like family portraits and stuff, but for what clients are paying me. Um They end up paying me and then they pay the makeup artist separately. They go through makeup, they come out, we shoot, we enjoy, we have fun, they go back, they change, they come out, we shoot the makeup artist stays on set and make sure there's no crazy flyaways or their hair isn't going crazy, which helps me a lot in post production. Once we're done shooting, I then take the photos home and I do two passes. I do one pass to pick the ones that I like the most and then I do another pass to really hone in on what they're looking. The clients that I'm shooting are mostly actors and actresses who need headshots and they really only need a few. So I usually present them with about Depending on how many looks, we do 30-40. Um sometimes more. Um and then I have them pick. Uh usually I'll do three for free and then everything after that is $25 a photo to edit. They pick they send them back to me online and then I go ahead and start editing them and deliver them online.
