Action - Buy a UPC Code (Barcode)
in this video you're going to buy the U. P. C. Codes otherwise known as bar codes that you're going to need to list your product. The first question I need to ask yourself is how many barcodes do you need? And here's an example of when you need a new barcode. If you're selling a red and black double dog leash you need one barcode and it doesn't matter how much of that product you sell. You just need one barcode for that color of the dog leash. So you could sell 1000 of those red and black dog leashes but as long as they're all the same exact color red and black Then you only need that one. You PC or barcode. Now let's say you want to keep selling the double dog leash but you want to add a color variation. And now instead of having the black and red you want to add a black double dog leash. Since this is a different variation of the product, you're going to need a second. You pc or barcode. So that means even though you only have one listing of the double dog leash, since you're offerin...
g your customers to variations, one in the color black and red and one in the color black, you're gonna need your own you pcr barcode for each of those variations. And then the third example is if you were to add another product entirely, let's say a dog leash for runners then you need a new U. P. C. Barcode. So the question you want to ask yourself is do you plan on adding more variations to your product in the future? And also do you plan on adding more products in the future? And this is something only you can answer at this point in time you don't need to know exactly how many bar codes you'll need. Like I'm gonna use 13 and that's it because in a lot of ways you don't know yet how many barcodes you're gonna need but just think about it and get a general idea, did you already plan on adding variations to the product you're about to list on amazon? And how serious do you want to take this amazon FB a business? Do you want to add a lot of products in the future or do you want this to be more of a side business where you only have one or two products when it comes to where to buy these barcodes, there's only one place where you can officially get barcodes And those are called GS one barcodes. And to get them you go to Gs one's website and it is kind of a complicated and expensive process. But unfortunately that's the only way to get legit barcodes. Now another option that a lot of amazon FB a seller's do is they buy secondhand bar codes on websites such as Ebay and Amazon does not like this. So if you buy a secondhand barcode they can remove your listing at any time. But unfortunately because the only way to get legit barcodes is through this long and expensive process, most amazon FB a sellers are using secondhand barcodes, but it's up to you which of these two routes you want to go. We have more information about u p. C codes and our resource packet. If you click on number six And here it will walk you step by step through the process of buying a barcode through GS one and also give you an important note about buying those secondhand barcodes from websites such as Ebay, pause this video now and go by the u p c r bar codes for your product.
