Campaigns, Adgroups, & Keywords Overview
in this video, we're gonna talk about campaigns, ad groups and keywords. So you're probably like, what does this mean? Um it's really complicated because I'm not sure if you've done other advertising out there and if you haven't, don't worry, these amazon is really simple but amazon PPC structure is slightly different than most ad platforms that you may have tried. There's facebook and google which are the main ones, which are also pretty simple. But I think amazon PPC is actually the simplest set of this. So there are three main structures. It starts with the campaign at the top level and then breaks down to add groups and then from there it will break into keywords. So we're gonna go through this and I'll show you a picture but just go ahead and listen to me from getting right now. So the campaign, this is where you designate the budget, the start date, end date and targeting type. So for target type, we're going to get into this more later but there's automatic and manual, two diffe...
rent types. I always recommend starting with automatic and moving into manual. Automatic. More expensive manuals cheaper. But you'll see why we start with automatic. So these campaigns hold all these different types of ad groups that you create. So think of the campaign as the main objective for something you will get a high level overview of like how the sponsored products are working. But this campaign is the hype, like high level thinking automatic manual or you want to target for a specific reason you want to do a holiday promotion campaign, that is the main objective. So under the campaigns, the campaigns up here and we'll break down to add group. So these are actually where your product ads live. This is more of an intermediate step and your keywords are within each of these ad groups. So think of an ad group as just a group. It's it just holds things inside of it inside this will be your product ads and your keywords in this. You can use these ad groups to do different type of targeting, running A. B tests and other things. And the final tier is the key words. This is where you have to be playing close attention to where you're improving your paid search. People on amazon are actually searching for these keywords and you may be paying 50 cents per click for one ad or 2 50 for another for every click from those ad groups that we talked about. All these little keywords are inside there and these keywords, let's say the keyword right here is attached to a product ad. The product add that you're going to be presenting is designated by amazon. But these product ads are literally just your first main hero image, a hero images, Your primary image for your product and your product will be attached to all these keywords which will show up in the search rankings. The product key word doesn't show up, but when people search for it, your product ad will show up. So this is what I was talking about the campaign at the top level budget, start date, end date targeting and type. That's the top level. Remember campaign is your objective under that you can have two or more even one ad group. However may you want I just put two here for reference but that's an ad group. Think of the ad group just to the bucket and the ad group will contain the product ads and the product ads is set by whichever products your advertising. And finally under these ad groups I put keywords it could be however make keywords you want typically for an ad group I have about 10, 2, 20 keywords and then I'm always optimizing and changing them. These keywords are put into the ad groups. These add scripts are just holding them but they're really doing nothing with them. The keyword is the secret sauce there. It's where you adjust all the bids. You can actually adjust all the bids for every single different type of keyword and you can optimize them. You can figure out what keywords work what keywords don't work it really. It really is depending on everything. But that's the overview of how amazon PPC works and what campaigns ad groups and keywords are
