Recommended Pro-Level Microphones
So which pro level microphones do I actually recommend? And do I use? So the first one is the electro voice re 20. It's the one I pulled up before. So it's this one here. So I'd say about 80 to 90% of the videos I make are with this microphone, the electro voice re 20. So this is a dynamic microphone. However, it's just really durable. It gets the job done and I can't always control the sound outside if I've got a good idea in my head and I want to record a video. I don't always want to wait for the evening time to be able to record. I don't always have to have the the neighbors to be quiet. Obviously, I can't control um people around me, but I don't have to wait for certain things. I can just record when I want. I know it's gonna sound good. I probably could get a slightly better sound if I used a condenser microphone. But this one, it sounds great. It has that radio tone. It's a very common microphone. You see in a lot of podcasts, a lot of radio presenters use this microphone. It's ...
a classic mic also has the, this built in pop filter here, also have a pop shield as well. But it's a very good um classic microphone. And uh for my uses, it's great. Also, it's quite good. If I travel. If I go somewhere else, I often take this microphone with me because it sounds good pretty much everywhere, which is why I use it. I'd rather have, personally, I'd rather have a microphone sounded good and I can use it whenever I want than a microphone. It's great that I can rarely use. And the next microphone is the one I'm using right now, which is the Sennheiser MKH 416. This is a classic microphone that's used all the time in Hollywood in TV, shows and documentaries. This is kind of the go to s industry standard shotgun like as you will, it is quite expensive. It's around about $1000 new. So I don't always recommend getting this if you're brand new to uh making videos or recording audio. But as I do record a lot of videos and for talking head videos. So videos with a camera like this, I like to use this microphone as I can get it out of shop. And it's just a classic mic and it has a certain type of sound that people are used to from watching uh a lot of TV, shows, watching uh documentaries, movies, that kind of stuff. They will often use this mic and it has yeah classic sound that, that I like as well. The next one is a short SM seven B which I've got right here. So this microphone is uh a very standard microphone. You may recognize it from certain podcasts such as uh the Joe Rogan experience. For example, it's a very classic microphone. Um I personally prefer the electro voice re 20 because I do think it captures some of the, the depth of my voice a little better than this microphone. This one is doesn't capture the low end as m as well as the electro voice re 20 but it's still a good microphone. It's a little bit more inexpensive than the electro voice re 20. The other microphone we looked at there, to be honest, it looks pretty cool. I think that's why a lot of people use it and it does have this built built on pop filter as well. This is another standard microphone, classic pro level one that I recommend.
