All About the Typing Widget
Welcome back chat bot fans and let's talk about the typing widget which is an exciting cute little widget. The typing widget is basically simulating the chat bot typing because it doesn't look real when you have a message that gets typed instantaneously. And then the chatbots finds the perfect gift immediately and writes the best joke immediately and finds the right emojis immediately. So the typing widget allows you to simulate that is taking some time to type. And this is especially useful if you're building a chatbot that is not supposed to look or act like a chat bot. Right? So let's just see how this looks real quick. So I would add some text and I'll say something like hey first name I have a funny joke to tell you. And then I'm gonna add my typing widget and in the typing widget you could just simply customize how long it should be typing for. So that's why I don't know, I'll do uh that's seven seconds is too long, you just drag it six seconds, five seconds. And I'm gonna say I'...
m gonna add a quick question delete that widget and I'll be like knock, knock. And I'm going to add a answer that a person could choose who's there. Okay now of course this is just as a test but let's just see how this looks. Um let's make sure this is all good here. Oh, attributes. So remember throw away and now that should go white an appointment. Now let's test this sample page in facebook messenger to see what the typing, which it looks like in real life. Hey guys, I have a funny joke to tell you now you see how it's typing for 34 or five seconds knock, knock and I could answer who's there. So the type of way to just simulates that real feel of theirs being there, being another person on the other end of the line. All I can say is don't overuse it because in most cases people are gonna be able to tell that it's a bot and I would say in most cases, especially in the beginning, it's worth your while to say that it's a bot because you want to tell users that you could, you could reply stop at any point to unsubscribe because your body is not going to be perfect. It's not gonna be very hard to simulate a real human conversation. It's good to simulate it, but it's not good to try to pretend that you're a real human in all cases. But the typing which it use sparingly is nice, it's a nice touch. It keeps things a little bit natural, it keeps that fidelity to the whole experience and I and I do recommend using it um spit at the in the right places at the right time and you'll get a feel and a sense of how I build bots using the type of widget, I don't really ever go more than 34 or five seconds with it. But it's a cute fun thing. And in the next lecture we're gonna talk about the video widget and I think that will basically have us covering every widget available in mobile monkey, which is pretty exciting. So I will see you guys in a few seconds in the next lecture.
